Helen Aden (Kan)

School and HSAC Swim Coach, Huntingtower Sports and Aquatic Centre Manager

Helen has been teaching and coaching swimming for 35 years, and is accredited as a Bronze Licence Coach by the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association.  Helen has worked with well-respected Gold Licence Coach Alwyn Barrett and is a regular attendee at State and National ASCTA (Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association) conferences.

Helen is a parent of swimmers who have competed at state, national and international levels, and for many years her focus has been on school swimming.  She has coached students at Huntingtower School since 1995, and has an impressive record in this regard.  Huntingtower is the smallest school in the Eastern Independent Schools of Melbourne (EISM), but has held the Swimming Premiership 13 times and been runner-up 5 times (against schools having a student population up to three times larger).  Now, with access to the Huntingtower Sports and Aquatic Centre, Helen’s swimmers are participating in state heats and finals.

Helen believes in instilling skills in children of all ages (from 'learn to swim' age through to teenagers) that will help them not only become technically efficient swimmers, but to have a lifelong passion for swimming - whether that be for safety, recreation, fitness or as a competitive pursuit.
